Exhibiton "Broken Biscuits"

Exhibition "Broken Biscuits," is an ongoing art exhibition i'm putting on inside hairdressing salons. The reason for choosing hairdressing salons as the stage for the exhibition, is because of the direct relationships that exist between the two, referring to both the materials and the tools involved in the crafting of the images.
The images are handmade collages created from a large collection of magazines, that i have collected from hairdressing salons, of which i am now recycling into much more interesting forms, some of which may be seen in the exhibition, although the exhibitions content is constantly changing of course as new works are produced.
What i consider to be the tools used to craft the images are the scissors and the imagination, another similarity here i see between the technique i use and that of the hairstylist.
The name of the exhibition has a double meaning referring firstly to the many random pieces used in the construction of the images, the second refering to the saying, "talking broken biscuits,"used in certain circles to describe the random pictures sometimes experienced, for example during the dreaming process, which are then bonded together through the imagination.
Others who have helped me so far and who i consider to be part of my team "images over time" include Darek Slawinski who took these photographs and many more during the setting up of the exhibitions current stepping stone in "Nouvel Hair Emporio Prestige", which is a rather spectacular and unusual hairdressing salon found in the city center of Lille in the north of France. Also my good friend Elisabetta Lanzilotti who helped organize and co-ordinate the first exhibition that took place in the "Hed" salon last summer in Barcelona.

The number of pieces used in each collage varies as does the complexity of relationship within. The above image being built up of 11 pieces, is one of the more simpler to view, others such as the image below constituting of greater layers of complexity. This one (below)is built up of just over 150 pieces.
This image has such a massive amount of relationship and inter-connection involved in it, that a great deal of time would need to be spent in it's observation in order to build up a perception. A perception structured of course by individual relationships. Because of the factor of time needed to observe this larger collage, i think it's probably ideally suited to the waiting area of the hair and beauty salon, the origin after all of its parts.
